DAY 1 | Arrival San Francisco

Our staff will meet you at San Francisco International and you will be transferred from here to our accommodation for the next three days. On arrival, it’s time to unpack and build bikes in the gardens under the towering Redwoods by the Russian River. Afterward, a shortish ride  to work out the travel legs and check that the bikes are ready for the adventure ahead. Tonight, riverside drinks at the Hamptons Bar followed by dinner in house. For the movie buffs, if things look familiar you might be seeing flashbacks of Bing and Fred’s great 1942 movie, Holiday Inn.

DAY 2 | King Ridge

Considered by many to be the Crown Jewel of North Bay cycling roads our ride starts by following the Russian River downstream before we get to the small village of Cazadero where we begin the climb over King Ridge riding through Redwood and Oak Forests with views to the Ocean on one side and wide open plains on the other. A challenging ride should always be rewarded and today the reward comes in the views over the Pacific toward the end of the ride as we descend to the mouth of the Russian River before heading upstream to our home base. An afternoon by the pool or perhaps a wander to the Russian River Beach where you can swim or hire a canoe if still feeling active.

DAY 3 | Sonoma Coast

Another pleasant and sometimes challenging ride passing through quaint old towns with magnificent ocean vistas and riverside splashes. Maybe dinner in Occidental this evening.

DAY 4 | Transfer to Healdsburg & Windsor Plain

 Today we transfer to Healdsburg, our base for the next 4 nights. This afternoon a very cruisy ride almost entirely flat passing by famous wineries, small and large.

DAY 5 | Geyserville

Another pretty ride mostly flat, and taking in possibly the most famous cycling road in all of California, West Dry Creek Road. A chance to take in the Francis Ford Coppola Winery(and the extensive movie memorabilia collection).

Sample a crisp Sauvignon Blanc at Quivaras and take a break at the Dry Creek General Store. For those in the mood a nifty little climb up to the shores of Lake Sonoma. On the way home we will call in at the Jimtown General Store (a Martha Stewart haunt)

Day 6 | Rest Day

  • A chance to take in all the region has to offer. Concentrate your efforts in St Helena or spread yourwings and traverse the entire Valley. Or, just chill by the pool with a glass of the Valleys best.

Day 7 | The Geysers

One of our longest rides today as we do the circuit of the Geysers. Traversing the course anti clockwise we will need climbing legs early as we ascend to around 900m before commencing along descent to the town of Cloverdale where we begin to follow the Russian River back to our base. A remote and beautiful experience.

Day 8 | Transfer To St Helena & Rest Day

A transfer from the Sonoma Valley to the Napa. Take time out to discover the beautiful St Helena, our base for the next five evenings.

 DAY 9 | Franz Valley Loop

A nice opener to our time in the Napa Valley, the Valley loop follows the Silverado Trail along the Napa River and through Calistoga before heading for the hills. Some tight pinches as we climb our way up to a top of 617 m before a stunning descent into St Helena. Drinks waiting.

DAY 10 | Russian River Valley & Geurneville

Ahhhh, Pinot Noir! Today’s sensational ride sees us follow the course of the Russian River on both sides. Renowned for its Pinot but also with glorious views of Mt St Helena and the Mayacamas Mountain range enroute to the towering redwoods in Armstrong Woods. Lunch in Geurneville, then a meander home stopping maybe at Korbel, Arista Creek or Porter Creek wineries. 

DAY 11 | Cold Springs Loop

Deer Park, Howell Mountain and a lovely stretch of the Pope Valley are on today’s agenda. As always, time to stop here and there to sample the best the region has to offer.

DAY 12 | Yountville & Napa

Perhaps the best for last! A lovely flat ride through the Napa Valley taking in the pretty towns of Yountville and the larger center of Napa. Ride will be particularly leisurely taking time to explore these beautiful centres.

DAY 13 | Transfer to San Francisco

Three fabulous nights in this most beautiful of Cities. Discover it alone or as a group, and if you are on the second tour with the mixed group, celebrate the 4th July, Independence Day in style with fireworks over the Bridge.
